We started Citizen’s Field Notes to build on the work we do at Citizen Climate: using simple data and real-world observations to make climate science more understandable, but with communities around the world. Each episode focuses on one place and one climate-related issue, breaking down the data, science, and local response.
The name comes from the idea of field notes, or writing down what you observe, ask, or notice in a specific place. That’s how we approach each episode, by paying close attention to what’s happening on the ground. We hope the podcast helps more people see climate change as part of daily life and feel more connected to the science behind it.
Host of Citizen’s Field Notes
Maidhili is a 15-year-old student from India with a growing interest in climate issues and the way they affect everyday life. Now in 11th grade, she’s excited to bring her curiosity and voice to Citizen’s Field Notes. As a host, she helps guide each episode and hopes to make climate conversations feel more relatable for students like her.
She joined the podcast because she wanted to be part of something meaningful, and because she believes that even small efforts, like learning and sharing stories, can lead to bigger change.
We visit Tacloban, Philippines, a city often hit by typhoons. Using Typhoon Haiyan as a case study, we look at how climate change affects cyclone intensity and how local communities must adapt.
